A Brass Band from Worthington Kilbourne High school.

Throughout the event there will be:

Breads, Cider, and Homemade Root Beer.

Holiday Crafts

Sullivant Land Office will be open with a Pop-up Gift Shop.

Annual Meeting and Tour of Valley Dale

The Columbus Historical Society will hold a brief annual meeting for members at 5:30 pm, where we will share highlights from the past year and preview our goals for the future. Immediately following this official business, the public is invited to join CHS at 6 pm for a presentation and tour by historian and Valley Dale's owner, Landa Masdea BrunettoLight refreshments will be served.

The Valley Dale Ballroom is on the National Register of Historic Places. Valley Dale is a significant fixture as one of the nationally renowned Ballrooms of the "Big Band" musical era of the 30's and 40's. Many famous entertainers, including Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra and many others have appeared at Valley Dale through the years. It has been refurbished in recent years and still hosts musical programs and other events.

Tickets are free and the program is open to all, but reservations are required by 2pm Friday, October 25.

Spooktacular Tales

Experience a Spooktacular Halloween at the Harrison House with poetry by Edgar Allen Poe performed by Keith Shannon, Spooktacular Tales from Julie McGee and Nellie Kampmann.

Learn about Victorian mourning practices and see real Victorian mourning items.  

Enjoy funeral biscuits, breads, cider, and homemade root beer.

Make your own Halloween craft.

The Sullivant Land Office will be open with a pop-up gift shop.  Members who show their card will receive a 10% discount at our gift shop.

Price

$15 for Adults, $7 for Children 12 and under, Children 2 and under are free and do not require a ticket

Tickets will also be sold on-site.  Tickets for this event are timed and are required.  Tickets are nonrefundable, but they are transferrable.

Parking

There will be parking guides in vests directing visitors to park.

This tour will be conducted by a courthouse employee. Please enter through the front entrance for a security check-in which will consist of a metal detector, bag check, and require a photo-ID. 

There is limited parking available on Marconi Blvd itself, otherwise we recommend the parking garages at 745 W State St Parking Garage 1, Columbus, OH 43222 or the LAZ garage.

Some changes came in succession, while at other times the skyline remained unchanged for decades. Some proposed changes never came about. An entire freeway system was built in a decade  bring growth and development while simultaneously devastating several vibrant neighborhoods.

Parking is available behind the Harrison House or along the street.

Music of the Civil War Program

Visit the Historic Harrison House to listen to the acoustic music of the Civil War presented by Steve Ball and his wife Lisa Ball!

This program shares some of the most popular tunes of the Civil War from both sides of the conflict. The music is presented in a chronological format, with the story of each song, and what is happening in the Civil War at the same time. Covers some of the popular patriotic tunes, melancholy ballads of home, and a bit of army humor as well. Shares both music and history with insight to both soldiers and musicians of the period.

This concert will feature Lisa Ball's vocal talents and skill in the upright bass, as well as Steve Ball's vocals and his talent in guitar and banjo.

A guided tour of the beautiful Ohio Statehouse!

Currently there is an elevator modernization project occurring in the building.  There may some areas only accessible via the stairways.

Parking: Statehouse underground parking garage or nearby lots or street parking.  

Visitors may enter from Third Street or from the south sliding doors in the underground parking garage on the Green Level.

Please plan to arrive early to allow time for security screenings, restroom breaks, etc.
